Those
walking, talking Transylvanian twiglets The Cheeky
Girls took further steps towards gay superstardom
last Saturday. The REFLEX had booked the girls to
appear and perform their ‘The Cheeky Song (Touch My
Bum)’, and sure enough, like lingerie-clad goalposts,
the girls turned up to a rapturous round of applause.
Both Monica and Gabriela wore little more than doilies,
and although the temperatures outside were touching
zero, their blend of bony arm waving and lipstick
covered teeth warmed even the most cynical heart. They
performed their smash hit song (that was still hanging
on in there at number two last time we looked) and once
they'd finished, the crowd was so buzzed the stage was
full of punters. Monica and Gabriela simply continued
their song, whilst everyone else joined in.
There was plenty of talk during the evening that the
girls would make a fine Eurovision entry for us Brits
this year, so everybody start petitioning Terry Wogan!
Until then, The Reflex will return to normal. The
spangly, eye-opening glass dancefloor will continue to
shine, the Roman themed bar will continue to offer a
chilled atmosphere, and the Reflex will continue to pack
them in. The legend of those vampish twins, and a cheeky
stage invasion will live on though… until their next
single that is. God help us all.
